7 Things Every Electrician Website Must Have

Not all websites are created equal. Here are the elements that separate a site that wins jobs from one that just sits there.

A website that just "exists" isn't enough

Plenty of electricians have a website. A much smaller number have one that actually converts visitors into paying customers. The difference usually comes down to a handful of specific elements — things that build trust, answer questions, and make it easy for someone to pick up the phone.

Here's what every electrician website needs to do the job.

1. Your phone number, big and at the top

This sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised how many contractor sites make you hunt for the phone number. It should be the very first thing a visitor sees — large, clickable on mobile, and in the header on every single page.

When someone needs an electrician, they want to call. Make it effortless.

2. A clear hero section that answers "what do you do and where?"

Your homepage has about three seconds to communicate: who you are, what you do, and where you serve. A strong hero section has a headline like "Licensed Electrician Serving Dallas and Surrounding Areas" — not just your business name. It should also have a single, clear call to action: "Call now" or "Request a free quote."

3. A full services list

Homeowners and property managers want to know if you do the specific thing they need before they call. Don't make them guess. List your services clearly:

  • Residential rewiring
  • Panel upgrades and replacements
  • EV charger installation
  • Outlet and switch installation
  • Lighting (interior, exterior, landscape)
  • Smoke and CO detector installation
  • Commercial electrical work

The more specific you are, the better you'll rank for those searches.

4. Your license number and insurance status

Credibility is everything in a trade. Listing your state license number and confirming you're fully insured removes the biggest hesitation homeowners have about hiring a contractor they've never met. Put it prominently — near the top of the page or in the footer at minimum.

5. Real customer reviews

Social proof is the most powerful conversion tool on your website. Five genuine, specific reviews from real customers in your service area will do more to win jobs than any amount of marketing copy.

Include the customer's first name and last initial, and if possible the neighborhood or city. Specificity makes reviews believable. "Great work!" doesn't mean much. "Had the whole panel upgraded in a day, cleaned up after themselves, very professional" — that converts.

6. A contact form (not just a phone number)

Not everyone wants to call. Some people prefer to send a message at 10pm on a Tuesday and let you get back to them. A simple contact form — name, phone/email, brief description of the job — captures leads you'd otherwise lose.

Bonus: set it up to send you an email notification instantly so you can follow up fast. Speed of response is one of the biggest factors in whether you win the job.

7. Mobile-first design that loads fast

Over 70% of local service searches happen on a phone. If your site doesn't look great on mobile, loads slowly, or has tiny text and buttons, people will bounce and call your competitor. Your site needs to be built for mobile from the ground up — not just "technically usable" on a phone.

Google also uses mobile page speed as a ranking factor. A slow site doesn't just lose customers — it hurts your search rankings too.

Getting all of this without hiring a developer
